Tāmaki Makaurau band Corrella return with their first new music in over a year. Growing in popularity with their sun-soaked sound, ‘How Will I Know’ is the first taste of their new album Skeletons, which is out late-November.
Written and recorded on the band’s final days working on their new album, ‘How Will I Know’ combines a classic Pacific-reggae sound with elements of retro-soul & gospel. The track features lead vocals for the first time from female vocalist Ngawaiwera Campbell, with fellow lead vocalists Te Naawe Tupe and Pipiwharauroa Campbell providing the harmonies.
2024 has seen Corrella come seemingly out of nowhere to become an award-winning new favourite on the Aotearoa music scene. Their 2023 album Road From 26 featured the record-breaking earworm ‘Blue Eyed Māori’, which is the longest-ever Number One on the NZ Top 20 Singles Chart. The band have since won two Aotearoa Music Awards including Breakthrough Single of the Year, alongside one Waiata Māori Music Award for Best Group.
The culmination of the past year writing and recording, Corrella’s upcoming new album is set for release just in time for the Australasian summer. The coming summer will see Corrella perform marquee slots at festivals Rhythm & Vines and Homegrown, and support L.A.B on their nine shows across New Zealand and Australia.
