‘Immaru’ is the first release from New Zealand musicians, composers and producers Rhian Sheehan & Arli Liberman. The track is the first release from an upcoming collaborative album of new original material, crafted over a number of years.
Combining the atmospheric guitar playing and production skills of Arli Liberman with Rhian Sheehan’s haunting use of spectral modular soundscapes, this new project sees the two artists building worlds and experiences with each track. ‘Immaru’ is the first journey into this world, one which has been painstakingly crafted by two of NZ’s finest composers and producers.
Listen to 'Immaru' in Apple Music, mixed in Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos, offering an immersive, three-dimensional audio experience on compatible devices and headphones.
‘Immaru’ establishes itself with sparse cinematic motifs and an ambient atmosphere, before a dynamic crescendo introduces a post-rock guitar that has been seen across Sheehan’s entire catalogue. The track comes crashing to a halt, with the evocative, haunting, and futuristic sounds servicing as the perfect introduction to this collaborative project.
Due for release later in 2025, this new album serves as a new creative outlet for two talented artists with their own individual voices. The sound of Rhian Sheehan & Arli Liberman is one that not only stays true to their own sound, but also creates a new world of electronic, ambient, post-rock and sci-fi-sounds unlike anything they have created before.
The single and album arrives alongside a fully-formed suite of artwork and video content, originally created by multimedia artist Sam Caldwell, who’s unique work fits perfectly into the distinctive worlds being created by Rhian Sheehan & Arli Liberman.
