Loop are excited to welcome electronic musician Zuke - aka Ed Zuccollo to the family with the release of his new single ‘Voyager’. The Wellington-based artist has built a cult-following in the underground electronic scene for his dynamic hybrid live/DJ sets and an ability to tell a story through music. The track is the first single taken from his upcoming debut album.
The single ‘Voyager’ is named after the twin NASA space probes launched in 1977 to explore the outer solar system. Onboard those crafts is a “Golden Record”, various greetings and recordings that tell the story of our planet, a message in a bottle tossed into the cosmic ocean. ‘Voyager’ includes the greeting “hello from the children of planet earth” - serving as an intro to the celestial sound that is Zuke.
Densely layered, uplifting and lush with big synth sounds, ‘Voyager’ showcases Zuke’s unique production style, combining vintage synths and analogue equipment. The release includes the Downtempo/Organic House remix by Sanoi & Zuke, which highlights the emotive elements of the original melody.
‘Voyager’ is the first single from Zuke’s his long awaited debut album, set for release late 2024. Elements of jungle, dubstep, downtempo, house, and ambient field recordings fuse together, creating a blend of melodic beauty and deep bass with a human touch. Over the next few months, Loop will release a series of singles, remixes, and alternate versions, showcasing the diversity of this artist.
About Zuke
Zuke is the electronic project from producer & synth-wizard, Ed Zuccollo. Described as “an exploratory journey into the physicality of deep bass, with a taste for the cinematic”, Zuke’s genre-fluid, instrumental productions have been extensively road tested on festival sound systems throughout the country.
Over the last 20 years, Ed Zuccollo has honed his skills as a musician while immersed in the vibrant Wellington music scene. He has performed or recorded with artists such as TrinityRoots, Troy Kingi, Drax Project, The Black Seeds, Rhian Sheehan, Opiuo, Kita, and many more.
Ed began DJing drum & bass in the mid-2000s, which sparked his passion for electronic music. From his home studio, he explored and refined his writing and production techniques, utilizing a collection of vintage synths and analog equipment. At the heart of his music is the Minimoog synthesizer, which has become an essential element of his signature sound as Zuke.
Zuke's long-awaited debut album will feature tracks handpicked from an extensive archive of recordings, carefully chosen to tell a story without words.
