Yoko-Zuna @ Big Sound 2017 - The Woolly Mammoth
When & Where
THE WOOLLY MAMMOTH - TUES 5 SEP, 11.30pm
One of the most exciting live acts in New Zealand, Yoko-Zuna are set to perform in Australia for the first time at Brisbane’s Big Sound 2017.
Formed out of the ashes from one of Auckland’s most musically-creative hubs, Yoko-Zuna have fast established themselves as one of the most exciting bands in New Zealand. With their combination of unique electronic and hip-hop compositions, and a live show which is rarely bettered, Yoko-Zuna is an act with talent to burn.
2017 has seen Yoko-Zuna perform sets across NZ’s biggest festivals to huge audiences. Their second album, set to be released in early 2018, will further showcase the evolving style and abilities of one of NZ’s finest musical talents.
Yoko-Zuna's four Australian performances will showcase new single ‘Voltron’ and other new material with the live energy that has seen them fast become a favourite on the NZ festival circuit.
Big Sound Festival Live Performances
Tuesday 5th September - Barbara, 8.50pm
Tuesday 5th September – The Woolly Mammoth, 11.30pm
Wednesday 6th September – The Flying Cock, 9.50pm
Thursday 7th September – Lefty’s, 11.00pm
The release also comes on the heels of announcements on the line-ups for the Rhythm and Vines festival on December 29 alongside Schoolboy Q and 2ManyDJ’s, and a mainstage performance at Rhythm and Alps on December 31, with Yoko-Zuna bringing in the new year following sets from Little Dragon, Tash Sultana and Cigarettes After Sex.
The Australian performances come just days after the release of ‘Voltron’, the first new material from Yoko-Zuna in nearly nine months. Originally written for their performances during the 2017 festival season, ‘Voltron’ has become a staple of Yoko-Zuna’s live set and is the first taste of their upcoming album. The track represents the more electronic side of their unique and ever-evolving sound.
