Anna Coddington today unleashes single ‘Release Me’ to the world, her first new material for 2016. The yacht-rock inspired ‘Release Me’ features a driving rhythm sitting alongside a riff which lures in the listener. Performed live for the first time with Fly My Pretties, ‘Release Me’ is another welcome addition to the stellar catalogue of Coddington.
Featuring the incredible rhythm section of Chris O’Connor and Mike Hall, alongside keys from Steph Brown (LIPS) and guitar from Jeremy Toy, ‘Release Me’ shows Coddington lyrically at her best. Doubtful and uncertain lyrics given life through the amazing vocal talent of Coddington, and sung with all of the feelings. ‘Release Me’ continues the build towards the release of Anna Coddington’s highly anticipated third album.
The music video shows a cast all in need of release, with director Aidee Walker literally driving us through people’s emotions across Auckland city. ‘Release Me’ is the fifth video created by the pair, showcasing two talents who complement each other perfectly.
