Featuring stunning artwork created by legendary artist Robyn Kahukiwa, the album is influenced not only by the personal journey Hall has been on since the release of 2017’s Rules of Engagement, but is inspired by Indigenous uprising across the globe. Moving effortlessly across roots, rock and reggae, Manawa Wera puts the stunning voice and award-winning lyrics of Hall front and centre at all times.
Out February 28th, this project has been co-written and produced by Laughton Kora, featuring his vocals throughout, along with an all-star reggae band including Ara Adams-Tamatea (L.A.B.), Wiremu Barriball (Katchafire), & Zane Graham (Sons of Zion, The Wailers). Guest horns arranged and lead by Warren Maxwell (Trinity Roots, Little Bushman) appear, with percussion by Riki Gooch (Trinity Roots, Eru Dangerspiel). Backing vocals are gifted from Hall’s close comrades Troy Kingi & Rob Ruha. All recorded live in studio, each player brings their unique feel and experiences to the release.
