Loop have shared the second installment of their mix series Loop Select DJ Tape with their next guest Hurricane Emily bringing her own signature sound for your listening pleasure exclusively to Apple Music.

Local party instigator Hurricane Emily is the alias of Te Whanganui-a-Tara based DJ Emily Janus. Since her return to the city that raised her, she has been carving out her space within the dance music community across Aotearoa.There is no denying her passion for the scene, which is channeled both behind the decks and through her work co-directing Sets. This community-driven project focuses on the safety of DJs and music lovers alike, through promoting the use of high quality hearing protection at clubs and festivals. 

2022 has also seen Emily further cement herself within the community through the introduction of her free Pōneke-based DJ School ‘Mix Uni’, which focuses on providing female-identifying, trans and non-binary aspiring DJs an opportunity to learn from some of Aotearoa’s most established selectors in a supportive and inclusive environment. This year, Emily has also been keeping busy as the host of Radioactive show ‘The Garden Shed’, showcasing dance music produced solely by Aotearoa artists, every Monday with the support of New Zealand on Air.
